Hyatt Place, Caribbean Park
This business hotel is only one of two Hyatt Place hotels to cater for the business segment of the market. The Caribbean Park Hyatt Place offers a sense of comfort and importantly, the efficiency and service required for such an operation. PRA looked at addressing three fundamental elements from the outset, “Good internet, good technology, and, importantly, a good and comfortable bed.”
Hyatt Place will also go well beyond the usual offerings found in a business hotel: an unusually large lounge area at ground level, a full bar (as opposed to a point where drinks can be found), and a considerably more generous size for dining areas. Here, there will be one large dining area that can be easily reduced in scale with operable screens (as few want to eat breakfast on their own in an endless space). Travertine floors, Venetian plastered walls and open fireplaces will create a sense of comfort and intimacy away from home.
The 170 rooms, spread across seven levels, will feature the work of SJB Interiors, with eminent interior designer Andrew Parr at the helm. Located on a premium site at Caribbean Park, adjacent to EastLink, this prominent building, conceived as two wings, not only benefits from 100,000 passing cars each day, but for occupants, views over Caribbean Park and the Dandenong Ranges. And as with some of the other buildings designed by PRA, the exterior palette will include dark grey aluminium, grey glass and striations of black-ribbed panels that create a monumental effect. Parr referred to these black exterior bands for the room interiors, using black-stained timber to detail everything from built-in wardrobes to desks, mirrors and bedheads. And in each room are deep comfortable lounges, ideal for checking emails or making business calls at the end of a day.
Hyatt Place, Caribbean Park is currently under construction with a planned completion in 2021.
